The Problem – Many pharmaceuticals are getting past our waste water treatment plants and getting into our drinking water. Studies have found antibiotics, anti-depressants, birth control, cancer treatments, pain killers, tranquilizers as well as many other drugs in water tested.
The Solution – The Village offers residents to anonymously drop off drugs into a locked vault. The vault is similar in design and looks like a mail postal box only painted green. Only law enforcement will be able to open the vault to dispose of the drugs. Village officials highly recommend that each resident utilize the system and not throw their old drugs into the garbage or sewer system.
Disposal Location - The Drug Disposal Vault is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the Sherman Police Department (2629 W. Andrew Rd.) main entrance lobby, right inside the door.

* Any drug as defined in the five categories of the federal Controlled Substances Act of 1970. These medications are categorized by “schedules” based on their potential for abuse and addiction. They range from Schedule 1, or C1 (illegal drugs) to C2 to C5 which indicates a decrease in potential for abuse or addiction. The schedules cover opium (and other opiates), hallucinogens, as well as prescriptions containing narcotics or amphetamines.
